Dear colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the IV. International Symposium on Horticulture in Europe (SHE), the V. International Humulus Symposium (IHS), the VIII. International Symposium on Human Health Effects of Fruits and Vegetables (FAV Health) and the Annual Convention of the German Society for Horticultural Science that will take place virtual from 9-11 March 2021, starting with a sponsors day on March 8, 2021.

The combined symposia theme ‘Advancing together: Enhancing quality of life through HortScience’ reflects the many exciting achievements in horticultural science for the benefit of societies of today and tomorrow that were realized through a strong academic – industry research partnership.

The 3-days event includes plenary presentations of world leading scientists, panel discussions with renowned companies, industry stakeholders and legislators, short oral and poster presentations on fundamental and applied research, exhibition of products and services.

The symposia will provide a unique platform for moving onward together to advance progressive values and to build a brighter future for generations to come. Our common goals are to beautify the planet through horticulture and to secure safe, healthy and sustainably produced food for everyone.

The symposia are organized under the auspices of the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the International Society for Horticultural Science.

The conference is organised by the staff of the Institute of Crop Physiology of Specialty Crops at the University of Hohenheim and INTERPLAN Congress, Meeting & Event Management AG, in close collaboration with the ISHS.

Looking forward to meet you virtual in March 2021.

Obituary for Prof. Dr. Jens Wünsche

With profound sadness we announce that on the 27.01.2021 Prof. Dr. Jens. Wünsche passed away after a long illness.

Jens Wünsche was an internationally recognized horticultural scientist who networked with colleagues around the globe and was very close friends with many of them. He considerably contributed to horticultural science and education of young researchers. Prof. Dr. Wünsche was known as open-minded, highly competent and as a person with high integrity and collegiality.

Despite his condition, the SHE symposium was one of his highest priorities even during the last days of his life. This effort of Jens Wünsche for the horticultural science community will be publicly acknowledged in the Opening Plenary. We are confident that the symposium will be successful and inspirational meeting for all its members, as Jens Wünsche had hoped for.

We will painfully miss Jens Wünsche, along with his unwavering optimism and his positive energy.
